It is with great pleasure, that we release our first Bordeaux style wine crafted from vine to wine by our new wine team. The blend is 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 32% Merlot, and 28% Cabernet Franc---all estate grown. One taste, one whiff, one look, and you will see not only with your eyes our beautiful new label (a matt finish rather than shiny---we love it!) But when you open the bottle you will know what we are so excited about at Showket Vineyards. Your nose will delight in the wonderful aromas and your palate will experience the dedication of the new wine team and the excellence of our beautiful vineyards. Simply put, as the above headline states, the wine is delicious and definitely our most complex, refined wine ever.

The 2007 Showket Vineyards Proprietary Red Wine is a tribute to our vineyard. It is a cuvee which showcases the harmony of our property’s three Bordeaux varietals, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot. This wine showcases the complexity of flavors and aromatics that we experience when we walk through the vineyard. The first thing we always notice about this red wine is that it has classic Cabernet Franc aromatics of violets and wild flowers.

As the wine opens up, the Merlot component begins to show itself in the form of dark chocolate scents that continue through to the palate, at which point the Cabernet Sauvignon exerts itself with a wave of blackberry and cassis. The textures of this wine really set it apart from any wine we have previously crafted. By using the three varietals, we focused on showing how seductive our varietals taste in the vineyard. The Cabernet Sauvignon is always lively and vibrant; the Merlot is rich and seductive while our Cabernet Franc has weight and intensity. The combination of the three gives this wine an amazing balance and a true sense of place.
